Sharyn Amoroso grew up in Ramsey, New Jersey, and, after college, she entered the corporate world, working in sales and marketing. She eventually transitioned into protocol, and attended the Protocol School of Etiquette in Washington D.C. before taking a job with the Santa Clara University ROTC detachment. In the fall of 2010, she was hired at West Point and served as Cadet Hostess for seven years before retiring in the summer of 2017. In this interview, she describes the duties of the Cadet Hostess, highlighting some of the things that have changed over time. She also addresses the renovation of Cullum Hall, including the memorial room. She states that her favorite part of the job has been working with people, and mentions several individuals she’s worked with over the years. Finally, she talks about some of the challenges of her job, and ends by explaining what West Point means to her.
