Marguerite Honeycutt was born and raised in Georgia, and met her husband at a dance. She and Weldon Honeycutt were married in 1950, shortly before he deployed to the Korean War. In 1953, she moved with her infant daughter to Japan, where the family lived for 18 months. During the Vietnam War, she lived in Columbus, Georgia, with her daughters while her husband was deployed commanding 3-187 Infantry in the 101st Airborne Division. In this interview, she talks about her childhood, meeting her husband, and her life as an Army spouse during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. She describes living in Japan following the Korean War, and in Georgia during the Vietnam War. She discusses keeping in touch with other Army spouses, making a MARS call to Vietnam, and receiving notifications of wounded and killed Soldiers. She reflects on what being an Army spouse means to her, fondly recalling frequent moves and meeting new friends.
