Translating Military Experience Into Corporate Success

James S. Conley

Description

Jim Conley graduated from West Point in 1965 as one of four African-American cadets in that class. In this interview, he recounts his memories of his time as a cadet and his five years of active duty service. Mr. Conley served one tour of duty in Vietnam as an Artilleryman with the 3rd Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division. After departing active duty, Mr. Conley worked in the auto industry for many years. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the West Point Association of Graduates. As part of the interview, he discusses the links he observed between his military service and the corporate world, as well as some of the initiatives in which he remains involved to help better prepare our nations' youth for life after high school.
