Continuing the Legacy: A Second Generation West Pointer Reflects on His Service

Herman E. Bulls, Jr.

Description

Major Herman E. Bulls, Jr. arrived at West Point for R-Day 2001 as the son of two Army officers, one of them a West Point grad. Several months later, the world suddenly changed around him and his fellow cadets. In this interview, Major Bulls recalls the events of September 11th, 2001 and the thoughts and feelings of cadets at the time. Following graduation he branched Infantry and deployed overseas twice, before pursuing an MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He returned to West Point in 2014 to serve as the Southeast Region Admissions Officer. Watch his interview to learn more about what he learned from his family, how his experiences shaped his beliefs about service to others, and how relationships have carried him throughout his Army career.
