“Living With A Huge Family” In Bancroft Hall: An Army Brat Goes Navy

Anna Buzzard

Description

Anna Buzzard grew up in an Army family. Her father graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1992, and her mother commissioned through ROTC at the University of Vermont. Anna and her two older sisters lived in a number of locations, including Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, Cambridge, Massachusetts, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, Hohenfels, Germany, and Ft. Lewis, Washington. While in High School, Anna participated in a Frances Hesselbein leadership program at the Air Force Academy, which inspired her to consider attending an Academy, and she applied to Air Force and Navy. She ended up following her older sister, Caroline (USNA 2020), to the Naval Academy. Mid-way through her second semester of Plebe Year, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and she and Caroline returned to West Point to live with their parents. Anna is currently looking forward to returning to the Naval Academy for training and her Youngster (third class) year. In this interview, she talks about her family, her childhood, and her first year at the Naval Academy. She discusses some of her experiences living in Germany and at the Naval Academy. She shares memories of her Plebe summer, and highlights why she is eager to return to the Naval Academy for her Youngster year.
