“Educating For Uncertainty”: The Sandhurst Commandant on Building a Flexible and Professional Officer Corps

Description

MG Paul Nanson, CBE is currently the Commandant of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He has served around the globe in locations such as Northern Ireland, Germany, Cyprus, Kuwait, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2013-14 with 2MEF (Marine Expeditionary Force) of the United States Marine Corps as the Deputy Commander of Regional Command South West in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. In this interview, MG Nanson describes the challenges and successes of several of his deployments, including Operation Granby (Desert Storm), Operation Telic (OIF), and his service with the Marines in Afghanistan. He also discusses his efforts to recruit talented, high-quality, diverse individuals for the Royal Military Academy. Finally, addresses how Sandhurst continues to update their curriculum based on the ever changing global situation.
