LTG (R) Larry R. Jordan (USMA '68) recounts his memories of his cadet experiences and thirty-five years of active duty service following his graduation. LTG Jordan had a distinguished career as an Armor officer, including service in Vietnam in 1969-70 as a platoon leader and company XO. Following graduate school at Indiana University, LTG Jordan taught in the Department of History for three years. He went on to serve in positions of increasing responsibility, to include two stints at Fort Knox, KY as Assistant Commandant and Commandant of the US Army Armor School. His service in our nation's capital included two years as the Deputy Inspector General of the Army, followed by two years as The Inspector General. He concluded his active duty service as the Deputy Commanding General and Chief of Staff of the US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC). LTG Jordan retired from the Army in 2003 and worked in the consulting industry. He has continued his service to West Point, the Army, and the nation in a variety of ways. He is a member of the Council of Trustees of the Association of the U.S. Army, the Board of Directors of the Army Historical Foundation, and the Board of Directors of the National Urban Fellows. For the past six years he has served on the Board of Directors of the West Point Association of Graduates, which he currently chairs. In this interview, he discusses his experiences as a Cadet and his service in Vietnam. He also highlights many of his experiences over his thirty-five year career.
